Netherlands to enhance trade ties with Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: Netherlands keen to invest in the country and also cooperate to enhance the bilateral trade ties with Pakistan. Having 180 million population Pakistan has great potential for investment, vast space for business activities and there is not an alarming issue of law and order situation in the country, said H. Gajus Scheltema the ambassador of Netherlands in a meeting during his visit to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) here on Wednesday.

President RCCI Jawed Akhtar Bhatti, Senior Vice President Raja Amer Iqbal, former Presidents, members Executive Committee and other businessmen of the region were also present on the occasion.

Ambassador said that his country is solemnly wants to greater trade ties with Pakistan on priority basis. He said that both the countries have good political ties and in future trade relations would also be enhanced. He vowed that business community of the Pakistan would be facilitated in visa related issues.

Speaking on the occasion President RCCI Jawed Bhatti said that Rawalpindi Chamber believes in promoting trade activities among all the countries across the globe. He said that trade volume between the said two countries is around $836 million which is really not up to the mark. He stressed to enhance the bilateral trade volume between the two countries.

President RCCI was of the view that continuous interaction between the business communities of both sides with each other would help a lot in this regard. He appealed to the honourable guest to play its role in this regard.

He also suggested that single country expos would be organized to get a space in each others’ trade markets. H. Gajus Scheltema ensured his full cooperation.
