Mango exports to United States from June

Karachi: All the problems that had been hindering mango export from Pakistan to the United States have been overcome by the government of Pakistan and the United States Department of Agriculture.

“From first June, exporters may send mangoes to the United States,” CEO-Harvest Tradings Pakistan Ahmad Jawad said.

He said Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Company worked extensively with the US Embassy in Islamabad to resolve the issues.

He said that seven orchards in Punjab and one in Sindh have been certified by Department of Plant Protection, which would be used for procurement of mangoes.

DPP will issue health certificate before mangoes are shipped for the United States. The varieties which will be exported include Langra, Chaunsa, Sindhri and Anwaratore, he added.

He said the penetration of Indian mango in the US markets was enough to urge Pakistanis to look for ways to sell their mango there.
