Major retail chains being lured to invest in Pakistan

KARACHI: Chief Executive, Trade development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Tariq Iqbal Puri said that a number of foreign retail groups are being approached to import Pakistan’s quality products.

Speaking on the occasion of visit to the representative office of Spain’s biggest hyper market chain – El Cortez Ingles at Firoz International the other day, CE TDAP said that it is heartening that Spain’s major retail chain has opened up its office in Pakistan and has started buying goods in a big way.

He said that El Cortez’s 34-member delegation had visited Pakistan on TDAP’s invitation and now it has started business with Pakistani manufacturers. He said that TDAP is also inviting delegations from France, South Korea, Japan and other countries.

Patron In-Chief Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) S M Muneer said on this occasion that CE of TDAP’s efforts to boost Pakistan’s exports are appreciable. He said that due to his efforts El Cortez is importing goods from Pakistan worth millions of dollars.

The country representative of El Cortez, Gulzar Firoz said that El Cortez is importing a range of quality goods from Pakistan including textiles made ups, leather garments, sports goods, bed linen, shoes and towels.

Chairman KATI Ehtishamuddin, former chairman Mian Zahid Hussain and Masood Naqi were also present.
