Liver transplantation to be started in 3 government hospitals: Sindh Health Minister

Karachi, April 29, 2015 (PPI-OT): Provincial Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that Liver Transplantation will be started in Sindh Institute of urology and transplantation, Dow Hospital/ University and Gambat Hospital from June 2015. This he said while talking to various delegations here in his office on Wednesday. He said that Cardiac Surgery and Kidney Transplantation were also being done in Sukkur Civil Hospital while Angioplasty was carried out in Civil Hospital Hyderabad.

Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar added, ‘Government of Sindh is fully prepared to fulfill the requirements of all public hospitals and the requirements of SIUT can be meted out upto Rs. 500 million.’ He told that a three member committee had been formed to look into the affairs of Civil Hospital Hyderabad, headed by Additional Secretary Health. He said that actions were being taken against absent doctors and no one would be spared if found guilty. ‘Up-gradation of government hospitals is the part of forthcoming budget 2015-16 in order to provide facilities to the patients.’ he concluded.
