Libyan Presidential Council discusses security developments

The Presidential Council of Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA) held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the latest security developments in the country.

The meeting, chaired by Head of the Presidential Council and GNA Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj, reviewed the security situation in Libya and the steps taken to counter the repercussions of the terrorist attack on the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation (NOC). It also discussed the recent clashes in the capital Tripoli and its environs and the measures taken to ensure the safety of citizens as well as the private and public property.

According to the Information Office of the Presidential Council, the meeting addressed the general framework for implementing the security arrangements and introducing amendments to the formation of the Security Committee, including its functions and mechanisms of action, in coordination with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
