KUSU condemns state action against JNU students

Srinagar, February 14, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, students have said that the witch-hunt launched by the Indian government in New Delhi against Kashmiri students for commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Mohammad Afzal Guru at Jawahar Lal Nehru University in New Delhi, is another demonstration of hatred, ingrained in Indian psyche, against the people of Kashmir. The Kashmir University Students Union (KUSU) in a statement in Srinagar said, India has become a state with iron fist and a quasi-totalitarian fascist power particularly under Narendra Modi-led government.

It said the right to self-determination as demanded collectively by the people of Kashmir, is not any revelation from the JNU campus but a well-known fact known all across the world. KUSU suspended all its activities in the university campus and expressed solidarity with all the individuals, groups, organizations, intellectuals and civil society members who support Kashmir’s right to self-determination as promised by the United Nations.

“People of Kashmir have been facing and resisting the occupation of Kashmir by India, but the majority of Indian people have been time and again misinformed, misled and their opinion manipulated by media trials to cover its dirty track record in Kashmir,” it maintained.
