Korea keen to import Pak rice

Karachi: Faud Hashim Rabbani, Commercial Counsellor, Embassy of Pakistan, Seoul, South Korea has informed the Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) that Korea Agro- Fisheries Trade Corporation is planning to implement bidding procedure from the beginning of next year and they have introduced several major Korean agents through whom rice would be imported in South Korea to help Pakistani exporters to avoid excessive competition in bidding procedure.

President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver thanked the counsellor and appreciated his efforts in protecting the interest of the SME rice exporters and urged the SME rice exporters to participate through the nominated agents for proper guidance in bidding procedures.

He said South Korea is planning to import substantial quantities of rice from Pakistan and this is an opportunity to promote exports and now both the big and small exporters would be able to bid for convenient quantities through the system of bidding outlined by the Korean Trade Corporation.
