Korea is one of Pakistan’s top trading partners: Iqbal Dawood Pakwala

Islamabad, August 01, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Republic of Korea is one of Pakistan’s top trading partners, this was stated by Iqbal Dawood Pakwala, Vice President, the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry while meeting with a 3-member Invest Korea and Pakistan (IKP) delegation, led by Mr. Myung Seung Jin who visited FPCCI on Wednesday, 1st August, 2012. Mr. Sohail Nisar Churra, Chairman Pakistan – Korea Business Council of FPCCI, thanked the Korean delegation for visiting Pakistan on his invitation extended to them when he visited Korea in the first week of July 2012. The meeting was also attended by the Directors and members of the Council.

In his welcome remarks Iqbal Dawood Pakwala said that Pakistan and Korea have strong relations. Volume of bilateral trade between the two countries has increased significantly. Pakistan exported to Korea Republic worth US $737 million while imported from Korea worth US $ 818 million.

He also discussed some proposals for the promotion of bilateral trade which included joint ventures in the areas of textile, food processing, technical and technological collaborations, frequent exchange of trade delegations, and promotion of new products by organizing exhibitions.

Mr. Myung Seung Jin said that IKP Korea can give guarantee to Pakistani businessmen for business partnership, marketing and creditability for business cooperation between the two countries. He also showed his satisfaction over the bilateral relations between Pakistan and South Korea and said that Korean people love Pakistan and its culture.

He said that a delegation from Korea will visit Pakistan on 2-8 October 2012 to explore business opportunities. The delegation will sign an MOU with the FPCCI on the said occasion for marketing of engineering services and establishment of Private-Partnership Projects.

Mr. Park Young Kyu said that his mission is to improve the image of Pakistan in Korea and is writing an article in the newapaper in Korea entitled “Happy Pakistan”. The delegation thanked the Ambassador of Pakistan in Korea, Shaukat Ali Mukaddam for taking initiative in improving and expanding commercial relations between the two countries.
