Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to celebrate the Sunday August 14th Independence Day in quite a befitting manner with holding of varieties of programmes and events throughout the province.
There will be public holiday on the day. The day will dawn with the gun salute of 21 cannons in the provincial metropolis and hoisting of national flag at 9.00 am on all the principal public and private buildings throughout the province. There will also be special thanksgiving prayers in all the principal mosques and other places of worships and sweets will be distributed in all the orphanages and Darul Amans with special meal for the prisoners throughout the province.
According to a circular issued by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the governor and chief minister will host special receptions in the provincial metropolis and will also attend national flag hoisting ceremonies.
On the day the print media will highlight the importance of the Pakistan Movement through their special supplements and the electronic media will broadcast and telecast special reports regarding the Independence Day.
Special exhibitions of photographs, documents etc relating to the Pakistan Movement will also be arranged in different public and private institutions of the province. Moreover, qirat contests, debates, essay competitions will also be arranged at different levels. In different schools of the provincial metropolis and other parts, exhibitions of documentary films for school children as well as the general public will also be arranged. In Peshawar cultural mushairas will also be held to focus on the sacrifices of the Muslims during the freedom movement.
In this connection all the concerned and authorized quarters have been directed to ensure that the programmes so far scheduled regarding the Independence Movement could fully be participated by the general public. The general people be provided facilities to make their easy participation in the programmes
