KCEU flays India for stopping Khurram from visiting Geneva

Srinagar, September 15, 2016 (PPI-OT):The Chairman of Kashmir Council European Union (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed has strongly condemned the Indian authorities for not allowing noted Kashmiri human rights activist, Khurram Parvez, to travel to Geneva to attend the ongoing session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Khurram Parvez was detained at New Delhi airport on Wednesday and later disallowed to board the flight.

Ali Raza Syed in a statement issued in Brussels expressed serious concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in occupied Kashmir and said that apparently Khurram Parvez was not allowed to travel abroad because he had planned to highlight the human rights abuses committed by Indian forces in the occupied territory.

Terming the Indian attitude undemocratic an illegitimate, the KCEU Chairman asked the Indian authorities to immediately permit Khuram Parvez to travel abroad.

Ali Raza Syed said that the Kashmiris were demanding their right to self-determination but India was suppressing their peaceful movement by resorting to human rights violations and use of brute force.
