Kashmiris struggling for inalienable right: Hurriyet leaders

Srinagar, November 08, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and other pro-freedom leaders and organizations have said that the people of Kashmir are rendering sacrifices for their birthright to self-determination and not for perks and privileges. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that economic package was no issue for the Kashmiris but right to self-determination was the real issue for them and they had offered supreme sacrifices for this right.

He said, New Delhi is not doing any favour to the Kashmiri people by announcing economic packages, but it is their right as they pay huge taxes and also New Delhi has been plundering their resources for the last over six decades. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in his statement in Srinagar said that Kashmir was a political issue that could not be addressed by announcing financial packages or economic incentives. He urged Indian leadership to show political maturity and courage, and address the Kashmir dispute once and for all, through meaningful dialogue involving New Delhi, Islamabad and the people of Kashmir or by implementing international agreements on Kashmir.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah in his statement said that economic packages were no solution to the Kashmir dispute. It is time to bring all the stakeholders of the dispute on table as without it peace in South Asia is impossible, he added. The JKNF spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that India and its agents in the territory should know that economic packages would not resolve the Kashmir dispute but it needed a political package.

The spokesman of the Kashmir High Court Bar Association in a statement in Srinagar said that people of Kashmir had not offered huge sacrifices for economic packages but for achieving their right to self-determination. “Indian leaders by announcing different packages are only befooling themselves. It is high time for them to understand the ground realties of Kashmir and fulfil the promise made by their predecessors both in and outside the Indian Parliament and also at the international fora with the people of Kashmir so that peace and tranquillity is established in the region,” he maintained.
