Kashmir never remained part of India: Shabbir Shah

Srinagar, July 03, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Secretary General of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabbir Ahmad Shah has reiterated that Kashmir has never remained part of India but is an internationally recognized disputed territory.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar was reacting to the statement made by Indian minister Ram Vilas Paswan that Kashmir is integral part of India. He said Paswan’s remarks are far from reality and contrary to the stand of the international community which has acknowledged Kashmir as a dispute.

“Kashmir is not like any other state of India but is a disputed territory which is present in the UN agenda and supported with 18 resolutions at the Security Council. By resorting to the rhetoric of integral part, India cannot change the reality,” he said.

Rejecting the dialogue under the ambit of Indian constitution, Shabbir Shah said such suggestion is put by those who are bereft of any historical knowledge or are deliberately trying to distort the facts. “Ram Vilas Paswan must read the history of Kashmir and go through the promises made by Indian leaders regarding the Kashmir dispute in the United Nations,” he added.

“We once again make it clear to India that there is no question of holding talks within the Constitution of India. Only possibility is to resolve the dispute as per UN resolutions or through the tripartite talks for which we will continue our struggle. The Hurriyet leadership and the people of Kashmir have pledged not to accept the Indian supremacy but to continue the struggle for freedom from illegal and forcible occupation of India,” Shabbir Shah maintained.
