Mr. Khuhro, on the occasion, said that a judicial inquiry was being conducted into the tragic accident that took place in Khairpur on the election day and expressed his optimism that truth would come before the people.

There was a complete ban enforce, he said, on carrying weapons under Section 144 Cr. P.C. but in spite of that some people had carried weapons in the complete defiance of law and these elements would also be exposed by the Judicial Commission. He said that adequate security measures were taken by the government but unfortunately some elements resorted to violence of the code of conduct and other law in vogue that resulted into this tragedy. Human life, he said, was precious one and we extremely regret over the loss of many human lives.

Mr. Nisar Ahmed Khuhro vowed to make security arrangements more effective on the eve of the second phase of the local bodies polls in the Province, adding that except for the tragic accident in Khairpur, no untoward incident took place on the eve of local bodies polls held in 8 districts of the province. He said that reports by some foreign observers also vindicate that polls in the province were free, fair and transparent.

He said that all those elements stood exposed who were levelling allegations against the government for poll rigging, adding that those people who made tall claims and issued rhetoric political statement have been defeated by the people; the Pakistan People’s Party had its roots in the people and would continue to enjoy the masses support, he said.
