JKLF to hold sit-in in Srinagar tomorrow against killings

Srinagar, February 16, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front has announced to organize a sit-in protest at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, tomorrow (Wednesday), against the killing spree in the territory. The JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is receiving treatment at a hospital in Srinagar under police custody, in a statement said, “India has turned Kashmir into a slaughter house and we have been receiving bodies of our dear ones killed by Indian forces every day.”

He said that this unabated killing spree could not and would not be tolerated and the Kashmiris would keep protesting against this state terrorism with passion. “The immunity from prosecution has turned these trigger-happy Indian forces’ personnel into beasts and killing humans has become their hobby,” he said.

The JKLF chairman expressed solidarity with the families of the two students, Shaista and Danish, who were killed by Indian troops in Pulwama on Sunday. He deplored that the international community had preferred trade over human values by maintaining silence over killings in occupied Kashmir.

The statement also said that after Muhammad Yasin Malik’s recovery and release, the JKLF would chalk out an organized and coordinated programme against the killing spree so that international community’s sleeping conscience could be awakened and Kashmiri youth were saved from Indian oppression.

It is to mention here that Yasin Malik was shifted to the hospital on Tuesday after his health deteriorated during house detention. He is receiving treatment under police custody. Meanwhile, a team of Hurriyet leaders including Muhammad Ramzan Khan, Farooq Ahmad Tawheedi, and Bashir Ahmad Maulvi visited Pulwama and expressed solidarity with families of the two martyred students.
