Japan to support construction of irrigation channel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

ISLAMABAD: The government of Japan has decided to extend financial support of $96,660 to the NGO RORWALI for the construction of Concrete Irrigation Channel in Village Thakhtabad, district Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The agreement for the project was signed between ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Hiroshi OE and RORWALI Chairman Shabir Ahmad Khan in Islamabad.

The purpose of the project is to achieve constant and timely provision of irrigation water in the project area by cementing existing unpaved and muddy irrigation channel.

Through this project, farmers in the village and its surroundings would get water with consistent flow throughout the year and even farmers on the tail of channel would also have sufficient water to irrigate their farmlands.

This project is expected to benefit about 1,300 households (approximately 13,000 individuals).
