Japan to promote Pak ‘soft image’ for boosting its economy: Hirsohi

SIALKOT: The Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Hirsohi Oe has assured Sialkot business community his country’s all-out efforts for promoting the “soft image” of Pakistan globally to boost its economy, which is badly adversely affected by owing to the on-going war against terrorism.

He this while addressing an important meeting with Sialkot business community held at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here on Friday. Takashi Shimokyoda First Secretary at Japanese Embassy in Islamabad, Naeem Anwar Qureshi President SCCI and Ejaz A. Khokhar Central Chairman of PRGMEA were also present on this occasion.

Japanese Ambassador said that the Japan was intending to develop the mutual trade ties with Pakistan, saying that the Japan would soon bring maximum industrial investment in Pakistan, adding that Japan would provide full technical assistance and guidance for modernizing the Sialkot’s export industries.

He said that the exporters of Sialkot have a great potential to explore and capture the international trade markets by exporting their diversified traditional and non-traditional export products. He said that Japan will ensure the easy access of Sialkot based exporters to the international Japanese trade markets through the Karachi based Pak-Japan Business Forum.

The Ambassador also assured all the necessary technical assistance and guidance for introducing the variety of Japanese Rice for its cultivation on Sialkot’s fertile agricultural land, besides assuring the smooth rice-made products to Japan from Sialkot-Pakistan.

Ejaz A Khokhar Central Chairman of Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) urged the visiting Japanese Ambassador Hirsohi Oe to direct the Japanese electronic media to come to Sialkot and produce the documentary on Sialkot industry and telecast it in Japanese language on Japanese electronic media for promoting the Sialkot industries. This step will help to boost the Sialkot industry, he added.

Japanese Envoy said that Japan would boost mutual trade with Pakistan, saying that the time was ripe to further strengthen the mutual trade ties between the two countries. The Japanese Ambassador, earlier, visited several leading industrial units in Sialkot, Daska and Uggoki amid tight security.

On the occasion, the Sialkot exporters told the visiting Japanese Ambassador that there was no doubt to say that Sialkot made Sports Goods, Surgical Instruments, Leather Products, Gloves of all sorts, Textiles Items, Sports Wear, Martial Arts Uniforms & Accessories, Musical Instruments, Kitchen Ware, Hollow Ware, Knives, Cutlery items and Military Uniform Badges etc. could find a good market in Japan.
