Japan Extend a Grant Yen 683 Million for upgradation of Mechanical System for Sewerage and Drainage, Faisalabad

Islamabad, August 13, 2012 (PPI-OT): Furthering Japan’s economic cooperation with Pakistan, the Government of Japan has extended Grant of Japanese Yen 683 million to the Government of Pakistan.

The official Notes for the Grant have been exchanged today on August 13, 2012 in Economic Affairs Division. Mr. Javed Iqbal, Secretary, Economic Affairs Division and H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Oe, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan signed the Exchange of Notes on behalf of respective Governments; This Grant will be utilized for the Upgradation of Mechanical System for Sewerage and Drainage, Faisalabad. Faisalabad is one of the most populous cities of Pakistan and also an industrial hub.

This project will definitely help in climate change and environmental improvement. This project will strengthen the capacity of city administration to avoid damages and after effects of monsoon season.

At the same time, Grant Agreement has also been signed by Mr. Takatoshi Nishikata, Chief Representative, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Mr. Kazim Niaz, Joint Secretary (Japan), Economic Affairs Division. This Grant is mutually beneficial for both the countries and will Strengthen Pak-Japan friendship and economic cooperation.
