Islamabad Chamber of Commerce for steps to enhance exports

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Tuesday urged the government to take proactive measures for enhancing exports to narrow trade deficit.

In a statement issued here, ICCI President Yassar Sakhi Butt urged the government to relax cargo charges on exports, saying that it was high time to focus on sustainable growth in export arena.

He said that product competitiveness was the right recipe to make a strong presence in global market.

ICCI President emphasized on making the country a hub of regional economic activities by facilitating exports.

He expressed concern over the condition of 100 percent physical examination of export consignments imposed by European Union even after full inspection at domestic level.

He said that export orders would be delayed due to these conditions and country’s exports would not be able to grow as per set targets.
