LAHORE: Chairman IPO-Pakistan Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi has said that strengthening IPO regime in the country is the need of hour, it will make the business environment secure and feasible by providing attractive opportunities both for local and foreign companies.
He stated this while talking to a delegation of Pakistan Chemist and Druggist Association which called on him at IPO-Headquarter, Islamabad on Tuesday. Member National Assembly Khawaja Sohail was also present on the occasion. The delegation comprised on Pattern PCDA, Aftab Ahmed Baig, Central Secretary Liaison Office Sheikh Abdul Jabbar, Jameel Ahmed and Dr. Tariq Sultan.
Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi said that trade and commerce is the backbone of economy and it is endeavour of government to provide all possible assistance to safeguard the rights of business entrepreneurs for sustainable development & economic growth. He said members of Pakistan Chemists & Druggists Association should get their names and trademarks registered to protect their businesses and also intimate all those who were not aware about the benefits of the registration of their business names.
The Chairman told that traders and commerce relating personalities were being contacted through Chamber of Commerce and Industries and IPO-experts have been conducting workshops and seminars to brief about the procedures of the registration of trademarks and patents. He said Pakistan is signatory of International Agreements such as Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), Berne Convention for protection of copyrights and related rights and Paris Convention for the protection of industrial property rights.
The representatives of PCDA assured for all possible cooperation for awareness programmes of IPO.
