IOK HC orders judicial inquiry into Bandipora youth’s killing

Srinagar, May 17, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has ordered judicial inquiry into the death of a youth from Bandipora who was killed by Indian Army in 2006. A bench of Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar ordered the inquiry by Principal Sessions Judge Bandipora, asking him to summon the parties and proceed in the mater in terms of the directions and submit report within two months.

Mother of the victim, Saleema begum had approached the High Court, seeking judicial inquiry into the custodial killing of her 20-year-old son, Abid Hussain Shah, who was killed in custody by the troops of 14-Rashtiya Rifles in 2006. Meanwhile, Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir of the High Court quashed the illegal detention of a youth, Anayatullah Shah, who was booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act.
