Inter State Gas System to open branch offices in Gwadar and Sukkur

ISLAMABAD: In order to ensure fast tract implementation of the Iran Pakistan Gas pipeline project, a branch office of the Inter State Gas System (Private) Limited (ISGS) would be established in Gwadar and Sukkur to expedite work.

It was also proposed by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources that a separate Energy Department may be established in the Balochistan provincial government, for which the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources will provide all possible assistance. This has been decided during a meeting between Chief Minister (CM) Balochistan, Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani Secretary, Petroleum and Natural Resources Mr Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhry, here in Islamabad on Monday.

Secretary, Petroleum and Natural Resources apprised CM Balochistan regarding status of various oil and gas development projects being implemented by the Federal government in Balochistan province.

Aghaz-e-Huqooq Balochistan announced by the Prime Minister of Pakistan was also discussed and it was committed that Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources would facilitate the government of Balochistan in providing employment opportunities to the locals in various oil and gas projects.

Chief Minister Balochistan was also updated on the progress made in the Iran-Pakistan (IP) Gas Pipeline Project and the CM assured that the government of Balochistan would facilitate in land acquisition for the project. Moreover, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India (TAPI) pipeline project was also discussed.
