Initiation of extensive plantation campaign in Defence Housing Authority

Karachi, July 25, 2016 (PPI-OT):An extensive tree plantation campaign, ‘Go Green DHA’ initiated jointly by DHA Karachi and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to add to the greenery of the area in a massive manner kicked off today. Administrator DHA Brig Zubair Ahmed planted a sapling of a fruit tree in a ceremony held at DHA Phase-VIII to formally mark the beginning of the environment friendly Green DHA campaign.

During the campaign a mammoth number of 30,000 plants of different species are being planted all along the roads, avenues, khayabans, streets, medians and parks of DHA. Paradoxically a record number of 100,000 trees are being planted at the upcoming DHA City Karachi project truly in accordance with its declared status of a sustainable, green and smart city of Pakistan. The versatile team of DHA Horticulture Directorate will properly water, nurture and look after the planted saplings to ensure their proper growth and protection.
