Industries to shut down if power cuts not controlled

KARACHI: Industrialists have once again threatened to shut down the industries and stop the payments of electricity bills if the power load shedding is not put to an end within three days, media reported on Thursday.

Meantime, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) demanded President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to take up measures to abolish the power crisis in the city.

During a demonstration in front of Karachi Press Club (KPC) attended by among others Sindh Commerce and Industries Rauf Siddiqui, industrialists staged a sit-in and warned to bring the industries to a halt in case the power outages were not eliminated.

The industrialists headed by Siraj Qasim Teli said the law and order situation may aggravate in the metropolis at the hand of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC). Also, Muttahida Rabita Committee demanded President Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani and Minister for Water and Power to take up concrete steps for relief to trader fraternity and the people at large.
