Indian delegation to visit Lahore and Karachi to hold talks on Non-Tariff Barriers

Karachi: An Indian delegation comprising of senior officials from the various regulatory government bodies is visiting Lahore and Karachi on 26th & 27th January 2012 as a follow up visit after Pakistani Commerce Minister’s visit to Delhi in September 2011. Arvind Saxena, Commercial Counsellor, Indian High Commission Islamabad informed Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Federal Advisor on Textile, that he will also be accompanying the delegation.

Dr. Ikhtiar Baig had accompanied Commerce Minister and chaired a seminar on “Nuts and Bolts of Trade Facilitation” in Delhi with the Indian senior officials to remove all Non-Tariff Barriers, which are obstacles to enhance the trade between India and Pakistan particularly export of cement, fruits & vegetables from Pakistan. Indian side had agreed to send a delegation of the Indian Regulatory to hold meeting with Pakistani businessmen at FPCCI, KCCI and LCCI regarding regulations, standard and certification requirement for export to India.
