India seeks trade with Pakistan through Khokhrapar-Monabao land border

Karachi: Visiting Indian Commerce Minister Anand Sharma says his country was seeking trade with Pakistan through Khokhrapar-Monabao land border and infrastructure like Wagah border was required for trade activities between the two countries.

Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday he said that talks were being held on trade through Khokhrapar- Monabao. He recalled that India had granted Pakistan Most Favoured Nation MFN status for trade since 1996.

He said negotiations were being held between both countries regarding reopening of banking channels. He said State Bank of Pakistan and Reserve Bank of India are in touch in this regard.

Sharma said work on multiple visas was also in process. The government and Trade ministry were convinced on issuing multiple business visas, he added.

Answering a question, Minister said he wanted Indian cricket team to tour Pakistan.
