Hurriyet leaders continue to pay tributes to Butt, Guru

Srinagar, February 08, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leaders have paid glowing tributes to Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt on their martyrdom anniversaries on Tuesday and Thursday. Hurriyet leader and Acting Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples’ Movement (JLPM), Mir Shahid Saleem addressing a meeting of the party activists in Jammu said that both the persons were innocent and were hanged to death without being given a fair trial.

They were executed, he said, just to terrify the people of Kashmir by sending them a message that to what extent Indian state can go to crush the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiris. But he said with all that brutality and cruelty India could not kill the sentiment of Azadi from the hearts and minds of the people of Kashmir. He said this has only strengthened the resolve and commitment of the Kashmiris towards the freedom struggle of Kashmir.

The JKPM also supported the strike call given by the Hurriyet leadership on February Tuesday and Thursday to pay tributes to the martyred leaders. Hurriyet leader Mohammad Yaseen Attai in his statement in Srinagar urged India to return mortal remains of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru from Tihar jail. He appealed to masses to observe complete shutdown tomorrow and on Thursday on the anniversaries of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru.

Meanwhile, Hurriyet leaders Yasmeen Raja and Zafar Akbar Butt in their statements issued in Srinagar paying tributes to the martyrs called upon the world community to take notice of human rights violations in the occupied territory. They vowed that the people of Kashmir would continue their struggle till freedom from Indian bondage.
