Haroon Agar urges Ambassador of Hungary to invite Hungarian investors to invest in Pakistan

Karachi, December 07, 2012 (PPI-OT): Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s President Muhammad Haroon Agar urged Ambassador of Hungary to invite Hungarian investors to invest in Pakistan. Exchanging views with the Hungarian Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Istvan Szabo he highlighted the real and true potential of Pakistan with all its strengths. He asserted upon the need to develop trade with the European Union countries and raised strong voice for market access to Pakistan in the EU markets.

He informed that Ambassador of European Union Delegation to Pakistan in association with KCCI is organizing a EU Pakistan Trade Dialogue: “Opportunities for Growth”. To enhance Pakistan and Hungary bilateral trade he also proposed to sign MoU with Budapest Chamber of Commerce to facilitate the private sector of two countries.

He was of the view that Hungarian company “MOL” can further enhance its business in oil and gas sector as it was enjoying successful business in Pakistan since last many years. Pakistan has a very liberal investment policy with agreements of investment protection, he told.

He also Hungarian Exhibitors through Ambassador to participate in KCCI annual “My-Karachi, Oasis of Harmony” Exhibition scheduled to be held in July 2013 which is a showcase and B2B and B2C platform wherein local and foreign exhibitors participate. He assured the Karachi Chamber’s best support and cooperation for match-making with their Pakistan counterparts, particularly KCCI members with Hungarian businesspersons.

Ambassador of Hungary to Pakistan H.E. Istvan Szabo recognized the KCCI’s important role as leading Chamber in the socio economic development of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan and Hungary had good political relations however, the bilateral trade volume was not according to the existing trade potential. He asked the cooperation of KCCI to organize Single Country Exhibition of Hungary in Pakistan.

He said that he may invite the attention of Budapest Chamber of Commerce to sign MoU with KCCI. He informed that Schengen visa for businesspersons can be applied through Hungarian Embassy in Islamabad, however, businesspersons after visiting Hungary can also visit Schengen states. He said that MOL was the biggest Hungarian company in Pakistan engaged in oil which was catering 11 percent needs of Pakistan.

He told that Hungary can export to Pakistan agro-based products, halal food products, machinery, healthcare products, medical diagnostic machinery, water treatment plants, desalination plants, cell phones, security equipments, electrical appliances etc. whereas Pakistan can export to Hungary textiles, garments, cotton, cotton yarn, auto parts, sports and surgical goods etc.

Senior Vice President KCCI Shamim Firpo, Vice President Nasir Mehmood and Managing Committee Members also participated in the meeting.
