Governor, Chief Minister discuss Karachi uplift schemes with Gilani

Karachi, June 08, 2012 (PPI-OT): Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani here Thursday at the Governor House and thanked him for allocation of funds for mega projects in Karachi and Sindh in Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2012-13.

They said that Layari Expressway would not only improve traffic flow between southern and northern Karachi but also save time and provide comfort to the citizens.

They expressed satisfaction over the progress made on Karachi Circular Railways which was being jointly funded by the governments of Japan and Pakistan.

They said that Motorway (M-9) between Hyderabad and Karachi was being undertaken on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis by a Malaysian company which would boost economic activity in the province in particular and the country in general.

The governor Sindh told the prime minister that K-4 Water Project was absolutely important for people of Karachi as it would sufficiently cater for water supply requirements of residents of metropolis.

Both the governor and the chief minister thanked the prime minister for allocating Rs.1.78 billion for Greater Karachi Sewerage Plant, which would help solve the sewerage problem of the city to a large extent.
