Global Partnership for education allocate $66 Million in Sindh Education

Karachi, June 21, 2012 (PPI-OT): Secretary Education Mr. Muhammad Siddique Memon has said that Education Department is striving hard to enhance quality education in the province with the support of global partnership for education and through this program $250,000 will be spent in this regard.

This he said while presiding over a meeting with the delegation of Global Partnership for education at NJV School here on Thursday. He stressed on monitoring and evolution role of NGOs, community based agencies, independent researchers, labour unions, media and all stakeholders of civil society to get desired results in education sector.

He said ‘GPE has allocated 100 million dollars in Pakistan and Sindh receives $66 million’. Mr. Memon added that on the clear directives of Minister for Education Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, Sindh Education Department had developed a sound education plan and providing free and compulsory primary education and beside this free text books were also being provided to the student’s up to Class X.

Secretary Education also informed the delegation that stipends were being given to girls students upto class X. Chief Program Manager RSU Pervaiz Sehar, DPM Saba Perveen, UNESCO Education Specialist Shahla R.Din, UNESCO Lucinda Ramcs and representatives of CSOs, NGOs and Officers of Education Department were also present.
