Gilani vows to go ahead with Million March program

Srinagar, November 02, 2015 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani has reiterated that the Million March will be held as per schedule on Saturday, the 7th November, and appealed to the people to make the programme a success. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned massive crackdowns on Hurriyet leaders and raids on their houses by Indian police. He said that arrests and restrictions could not force the people of Kashmir into submission. The call for the march has been given against the illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Valley on 7th November.

Meanwhile, the Indian police in its ongoing crackdowns arrested more Hurriyet leaders including Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Farooq Ahmad Tawheedi, today. Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Zafar Akbar Butt, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Javed Ahmad Mir, Muhammad Yasin Atai, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Muhammad Altaf Shah, Syed Imtiaz Haider and dozens other activists remained confined to jails and police stations. The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and Yasmeen Raja are already under house arrest.

The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing the Martyrs’ Conference organized by Jammu and Kashmir Islamic Mission in Srinagar, today, stressed the need to counter conspiracies being hatched against Muslim identity and integrity of Jammu and Kashmir with unity. The daily life was crippled due to a spate of terrorism unleashed by Indian Army, paramilitary forces and Special Operation Group in Bandipore district.

Locals complained that Indian armed men were beating up and harassing passengers and drivers of private vehicles in the garb of frisking and searches. The High Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir at its Executive Council meeting in Srinagar and Hurriyet leader, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar in a statement also condemned the arrest and detention of Hurriyet leaders in occupied Kashmir.
