Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry hails strengthening of Pak-China bilateral ties

Karachi, May 28, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has called for more trade and friendly ties between China and Pakistan. In a statement issued here the FPCCI President Zubair Ahmed Malik and Vice President Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI), Tariq Sayeed while appreciating the two way efforts to further boost bilateral relations and a possible assistance in the department of civil nuclear technology to overcome energy crisis.

They said that seeking Chinese assistance in nuclear technology for civil purpose is a welcome move by the Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif who sought nuclear technology assistance from China in his meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in Islamabad wherein the two leaders have discussed bilateral matters.

They hoped that China who is a trusted friend of Pakistan would duly extend the nuclear technology to overcome energy crisis in Pakistan. Both the leaders hoped that by overcoming energy crisis, there will be better chances to obliterate unemployment as well.

While stressing the importance of increasing trade links and trade volume between the two countries, Zubair Malk and Tariq Sayeed said that Pakistan wants to take benefit from Chinese expertise to improve its infrastructure.

They also hoped that China would also extend its market to the Pakistan to products as it done in case of India. They pointed out that India’s trade with China has mounted to about $64 billion in a very brief period while Pakistan lags far behind despite a long history of bilateral trade.

They said Pakistan and China enjoy historical and long lasting friendship and both the countries have been working jointly in areas i.e. economy, commerce, energy, telecom, etc. to ensure development. They showed their pessimism that there is a trust and commitment between both the sides which is a good sign for progress.

Tariq said that Pakistan is an important country in the region and it has made significant contribution to peace, stability and development of the region and the world at large. He said relationship of Pakistan and China was an excellent example of countries of different social systems living in amity with each other.

He termed the friendship between the two countries as ‘unmatchable’. They said it was a point of satisfaction that the people of Pakistan and China considered each other as brothers and were bonded through their hearts and minds.
