Etihad Airways starting Flights to Brazil

Lahore, June 26, 2012 (PPI-OT): Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, recently announced its plans to launch direct, daily flights to São Paulo, Brazil, the airline’s first South American destination, from June 2013.

Etihad Airways’ service will provide seamless connections from Brazil to the airline’s global network and offer greater connectivity over Abu Dhabi to Pakistan. The flights will begin on June 01, 2013 operated by a three class A340-600 aircraft, offering 12 Diamond First class, 32 Pearl Business class and 248 Coral Economy seats – a total 2,044 seats per week.

Brazil will prove to be an exciting destination for Etihad travellers as it will be hosting the football World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016. The inauguration of this flight is part of a project to expand Etihad’s route network and destinations. The airline’s goal is to fly to over 100 destinations with more than 150 aircraft by 2020.

Etihad currently operates 23 weekly flights between Pakistan and its hub, Abu Dhabi – daily from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad; and twice a week from Peshawar. In 2012, new flights were announced to Washington DC (United States), Basra (Iraq), Lagos (Nigeria), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Ahmadabad (India), and Vietnam.
