Efforts to enhance livestock production potential in Pakistan

LAHORE –– An agreement has been signed between University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) and Solve Agri Pak (Pvt) Limited (SAPPL) to enhance the livestock production potential in the light of advanced scientific research.

The MoU was signed by UVAS registrar Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and SAPPL Chief Executive Officer Haroon M. K Lodhi at Syndicate room on Wednesday.

The primary purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is to engage both parties in collaborative and co-operative efforts to improve livestock sector.

The agreement intends to bring the university and SAPPL on a platform to coordinate efforts, work together and jointly contribute to dairy development through professional knowledge. SAPPL will deposit 30 per cent of honorarium directly to the university and remaining amount will be entitled resource persons.

The UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Nawaz said that livestock sector has faced tremendous challenges but we have to deal out with the collaboration of livestock departments and academia research. He said that “the university’s prime objective is to conduct indigenous research and trained human resource that can employ modern techniques and get high yield of livestock. Dr Nawaz said that “the joint venture will usher a new development to enhance the public private partnership.

SAPPL Chief Executive Officer Haroon M. K Lodhi said that “the objective is to set up high standard in the field of livestock sector in Pakistan adding that it is starting point to make formal relationship among both institutions. He announced Rs 10,000 cash prize and medals for outstanding students in education. He termed as agreement is value adding and everlasting.
