Efforts being made to improve energy sector: Minister for Water and Power

Islamabad: Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar has said all out efforts are being made to generate electricity to meet the growing demand.

Talking to Pakistan Television, Naveed Qamar said the government was taking all important steps with huge allocation of funds for the construction of hydro, thermal, gas and nuclear based power projects.

The projects which would be completed in near future include Gomal Zam dam, Sadpara dam, Jinnah power plant, Neelum-Jhelum power plant, Munda dam, and Diamer-Basha dam, he added. Besides, some low capacity power generating plants are also under way which would be completed soon to address the energy crisis, he said.

The minister said that the government was fully cognizant of the challenges and all out efforts were being made to kick start more projects in future to provide relief to the masses.

The people would have relief soon after completion of the power plants being carried out in different parts of the country, he said. Naveed Qamar said that a project of gas pipeline from Iran to Pakistan was also in progress and hoped that the gigantic project would help resolve the energy crisis in the country.
