Education minister takes notice of excess college admission fee

Karachi, September 19, 2016 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, while taking serious notice of charging excess admission fee for on going first year admission in colleges, has directed Director General Colleges to take action against those colleges / principals who are found involved in this malpractice and further directed such principals to return their fees within a week and provide list of such students to DG Colleges. In a statement issued here on Monday he said that admission fee for science / commerce groups for first / second year is Rs 550 while for Arts group is Rs.500 and admission form charges are only Rs.10. He also said that the colleges were not authorised to sell uniforms because it had come into his notice that certain colleges were also selling uniforms and charging more money in this head.

The Minister for Education requested the parents and the students not to pay extra fee and if extra fee was demanded then make a complaint to DG Colleges. Prompt action would be taken against the violators. Mr. Dahar warned the Principals not go beyond the prescribed fee structure in either case action would be taken against them that might be suspension and termination from service as well. Meanwhile DG Colleges told that monitoring teams had been formed across the province to keep an eye on admissions process and taking action against those colleges that are violating fee structure.
