Defence Production options discussed with South Africa

Rawalpindi, April 03, 2015 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Defence Production, Rana Tanvir Hussain returned from a successful 5 day tour of South Africa where he held meetings with Deputy Defence Minister of South Africa Kebby Maphatsoe, Chairman of Armscor Vice Admiral (Retd) Refiloe Mudimu and other senior officials of Ministry of Defence and Commerce South Africa.

While in South Africa, the Minister emphasized the policy of ‘Look Africa’ and highlighted Pakistan’s ‘vision 2025’. He said that there are greater avenues between South Africa and Pakistan which needs to be identified to enhance trade and uplift economy.

Deputy Defence Minister South Africa expressed satisfaction over the growing defence ties and further desired the need to strengthen bilateral trade and relations. Chairman of Armscor Vice Admiral (Retd) Refitloe Mudimu gave the Minister an in-depth briefing on the working and dynamics of his organization. Rana Tanvir Hussain briefed the top military brass of South Africa on tremendous defence production opportunities in Pakistan.

At the last day of the visit Minister met key members of the South Africa, Chamber of Commerce and Industry and members of Pakistan Business Community. He was also the Chief Guest at a seminar named “Economic and Trade Prospects of Pakistan”. Federal Minister was accompanied by Chairman PAC Kamra Air Marshal Javaid Ahmed and other officials of the Ministry.
