Crackdown of JNU students, arrest of Prof Gilani flayed

Chandigarh, February 23, 2016 (PPI-OT):Various Sikh political and human rights organizations held meeting here to formulate strategy to counter the fascist agenda of Modi government. The participants condemned the police repression and crackdown in the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi and decided to send a team comprising lawyers, students and ex-serviceman to the University to express solidarity with students and faculty members who have been deliberately and maliciously targeted by the authorities.

Prominent among those who participated in the discussion includes Justice (retd) A S Bains, Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, Kanwar Pal Singh, Advocate Navkiran Singh, Advocate Amar Singh Chahal, Shashi Kant former-DGP, Paramjit Singh Sarao former-IG, Lt Gen ((retd) Kartar Singh Gill, Farmers leader, Pashora Singh and Sikh scholars, Dr Gurdarshan Singh Dhillion and Ashok Singh Bargria.

A resolution adopted during the meeting resolved to stand by the victims of state terrorism, resist the cultural aggression unleashed by RSS and its offshoots and reject Hindutva’s ideology. The gathering asked the Modi government to revoke the sedition charges against JNU students, Professor SAR Gilani, stop witch-hunting of JNU students and repeal the colonial era law. Those who addressed on the occasion included Advocate Navkiran Singh, Kanwar Pal Singh and Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema.
