Cotton market: Recent weakness in low grade prices facilitates revival in export sales to certain traditional markets

General Business News

Karachi, April 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): Recent weakness in low grade prices has facilitated a revival in export sales to certain traditional markets. The business arranged has included a few hundred tonnes of Type ALAKA, low Micronaire lots, at between 68.00 and 70.00 US cents per lb. landed Taiwan.

The local market, by contrast, has remained subdued. Mill buyers appear intent on watching price developments, while those holding better quality stocks remain in no hurry to entertain business. Some premium grade lots have changed hands at between Rs.6,500 and Rs.6,350 per maund (80.60/34.95 US cents per Ib), ex-gin, unchanged from Friday.
