Constitution of 1973 conforms to injunctions of Islam: Punjab Governor

Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman has termed 1973 constitution the most comprehensive document in which all guidelines have been taken from Islam.

In an exclusive video podcast interview with Radio Pakistan Lahore Correspondent Sajjad Parvez to commemorate the diamond jubilee of 1973 constitution, he said constitution clearly declares that sovereignty belongs to Almighty Allah alone.

He said according to the constitution, no law can be passed in the country which is against the spirit of Islam.

Highlighting the significance of the 1973 constitution, the Governor said it provides people freedoms of movement, assembly, association, speech and Right to Information.

Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman called for devising a strategy to apprise the youth of their rights and duties.

Elaborating his role as a Chancellor of universities, Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman said consortium has been made to bring reforms in the universities with the major focus on sensitizing the general public about the emerging challenges like climate change, women empowerment and use of technology.
