Chinese group mulls plying buses in Karachi

Karachi: A leading Chinese bus maker group, Foton, is mulling over to ply wide-bodied public transport buses in Karachi and in this it has already initiated talks with the provincial government.

In this regard a delegation of Foton Group of China on Wednesday called on Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah here at the CM House and discussed in detail it plan to ply passenger buses first in Karachi and then in Hyderabad and other cities. It was decided that a formal memorandum of understanding would signed soon.

Sindh minister for local government Agha Siraj Durrani, secretary transport Gul Hassan Channa, Commissioner Karachi Division Muhammad Hussain Syed, Director Karachi Mass Transit Cell Anwar Baig took part in the discussion.

The visiting delegation comprised Vice President Foton Group Ye Zhqaoyon, Zhang Jun, Lui Liran, Wn Qingli, Joseph Verghese, Perey T Blackerby and Nadeem Akhtar. ‘
