China Xinjiang Goldwind enters Pakistan wind power market

Hong Kong: Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd., Wednesday announced it has entered into agreement with China Three Gorges Corporation to provide Three Gorges’ first wind power project in Pakistan with 33 units of GW77/1500 high-temperature Permanent Magnet Direct Drive (PMDD) turbines. It also includes two years of operations and maintenance service, Newswire Asia reported.

This is Goldwind’s first order from Pakistan and first joint overseas project for Goldwind & Three Gorges, which marks another achievement in Goldwind’s global expansion. Project is located in Jhimpir, Sindh, Pakistan, which has varied weather with an average temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. The district is semi-arid and dusty. To withstand this environment, Goldwind’s R&D team designed the GW77/1500 high-temperature unit for use in a temperature range of -20 to 45 degrees Celsius with a sealed, dust-proof design.

At signing ceremony, Bi Yaxiong Deputy General Manager of Three Gorges, said, “This is Three Gorges’ first overseas wind power project. The reason why we have chosen Goldwind as turbine provider, maintenance service provider is that we strongly believe in Goldwind’s R&D capabilities and product and service quality. The project will establish a strong framework for our future collaboration.”
