China opens up its market for Pakistani exporters

Kunming, China, June 08, 2012 (PPI-OT): The doors on China’s huge market worth around $500 billion have been opened to the exporters and they are being assisted to exploit the opportunities of this lucrative market, this was stated by Chief Executive of Trade Development authority of Pakistan, According to report reaching here, Tariq Iqbal Puri.

Talking to the media on the eve of impressive presentation of thematic Pak Pavilion on the second day of 5th South Asian Countries Trade Fair and the South Asian Countries Business Conclave here at Kunming Exhibition and Convention Centre, the TDAP Chief said that as per the government’s policy to explore exports markets other than our traditional markets, our exporters have realized the importance of Chinese market especially in textiles, rice, marble and granite, brass, leather goods and a lot more commodities.

He said that TDAP has a focus on Chinese market as we had declared 2012 as “Focus China Year” under which the biggest ever contingent of exhibitors is participating in this exhibition jointly organized by TDAP and FPCCI. He said that the fair organizers have declared Pakistan as “Guest of Honour Country” this year.

He said that the Business Forum is perceived as a strategic economic alliance between China and South Asian business enterprises, which aims at promoting bilateral trade between two civilizations.

The trade volume between China and South Asian countries was estimated $85 billion in 2011 as compared with $40 billion in 2006, when China-South Asia Business Forum was constituted. He hoped that Pakistani marble and rice exporters are expected to receive big orders.

He said that various provinces in China particularly Yunan, Guizhou, Sichuan and other regions have offered to open their market to the Pakistani exporters.

He said that several Chinese companies have also offered to invest in Pakistan particularly in mining, oil and gas exploration, renewable energy, information technology and big opportunities are in the offing for us and Pakistan is likely to get significant foreign investment. He said that marble exporters alone are expecting orders worth several million dollars.

Among 150 Pakistani exhibitors’ marble and rice exporters have shown their happiness over the outcome of this visit as they are receiving trade inquiries overwhelmingly.

The leader of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) Rafiq Suleman said that he was remains busy the entire day and Chinese are taking keen interest in importing IRRI-6 rice. IRRI-6 is widely consumed in China.

He said that TDAP’s CE has taken the timely decision to focus China this year as we need to knock this market vigorously. The Vice Chairman, Pakistan Bedwear Exporters Association (PBEA), Naqi Bari said that China is becoming strategically important for Pakistan and TDAP leadership’s decision to focus this region is highly appreciable.

Director R and D, FACO, Talha Shan said that focusing Chinese market is a landmark decision. He praised the efforts of TDAP CE Tariq Puri’s efforts to explore new markets. He agreed with the views of Tariq Puri that marble’s exporters can get hundreds of million dollars orders from China as Chinese love to have marble jewelry and other items.
