Chairman Steering Committee on Wildlife orders to accelerate work on ongoing schemes of Lahore Safari Zoo Park

Lahore, April 14, 2016 (PPI-OT):Member National Assembly and Chairman Steering Committee on Wildlife Muhammad Afzal Khokhar has directed the officers of Communication and Works Department and contractors to gear up work on ongoing schemes of Lahore Safari Zoo Park and ensure completion of all projects till 20th June.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting at Lahore Safari Zoo Park wherein Director General Wildlife and Parks Punjab Khalid Ayaz Khan, Deputy Director Lahore Safari Zoo Park Syed Zafar ul Hassan, Deputy Director Wildlife Mudassar, Veterinary Officer Lahore Safari Zoo Park Dr. Muhammad Azhar, XEN and SDO of C and W Department were also present.

Afzal Khokar said that such projects on which more than 80 percent work has been done should be completed till 20th April while all other projects should be completed upto June 20, 2016. He said that food courts should be completed till 15th May while play land for children should be completed and made functional till 1st October so that more recreational facilities could be provided to children at Lahore Safari Zoo Park.

DG Wildlife Khalid Ayaz Khan was briefed by Veterinary Officer Lahore Safari Zoo Park Dr. Muhammad Azhar about the death of birds due to ND virus. DG Wildlife emphasized the need to adopt advanced precautionary measures in future in this regard. He said that work on installation of security cameras has been started in Lahore Safari Zoo Park and four security cameras have been installed at main gate of Lahore Safari Zoo Park and monitoring has been started. He said that foolproof security of visitors would be ensured at any cost and every possible step would be taken in this regard.
