Canadian delegation calls on Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Law

Islamabad, May 27, 2015 (PPI-OT): A delegation from Canadian Government headed by Ms. Susan Gregson, Assistant Deputy Minister for Asia and Pacific and Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan called on Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Law, Mr. Ashtar Ausaf Ali.

Mr. Ashtar Ausaf Ali informed the visitors that in line with PMLN’s vision and commitment, reforms are being introduced for the provision of swift justice to masses and procedures are being made easy. He said that all laws and rules of business are being translated in Urdu so that common people can understand them. All these documents will be made available through digital library for free of cost access.

While informing about cyber crime bill, Mr. Ashtar Ausaf Ali told that bill is being drafted within the framework of existing law and will follow the basic principles of fundamental rights. It will be ensure that any action will only be taken after due process of law and fair trial. Ms. Ms. Susan Gregson appreciated the SAPM for the steps being taken by the Government and the Law Ministry to reform the criminal justice system and provision of swift and affordable justice to citizenry.
