Brazil: Voting to be held today in first round of presidential elections

In Brazil, voting will be held on Sunday in the first round of the presidential elections.

The first round of the election takes place alongside votes for 27 out of 81 senators, all 513 members of the Chamber of Deputies, and all 27 governors and state legislatures.

Former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and incumbent President Jair Bolsonaro are considered the most popular candidates.

A candidate must receive over 50 percent of the vote in the first round to secure victory outright. Otherwise, the top two candidates will face each other in a runoff on 30th of this month.
