Karachi: Sindh Minister for Power and Advisor on Oil and Gas Shazia Marri has emphasized on close cooperation between energy and industrial sectors of Austria and Pakistan and stressed to gain benefits by sharing experiences and achievements.
This she said while talking to an Austria delegate at the chamber of speaker Sindh Assembly Thursday, which was led by Axel Welch, Ambassador of Republic of Austria.
Shazia briefed the Austrian delegation about the opportunities for investment in the energy and tourism sectors of Pakistan. She said that the provinces have been given share of 50 % in Oil and Gas resources and say in decision making. She said that archaeological sites of this province like Mohan Jo Dero and Makli are declared as world heritage sites and offer big attraction for tourists.
In the meeting Ambassador of Austrian Republic showed interest in visiting the historical sites of Sindh, especially the famous Rani Kot Fort.
On this Occasion, MPA Haji Anwar Mahar was also present and briefed the delegates about historical importance and background of Rani Kot.
The Austrian Ambassador introduced Ms. Shazia Marri to Mr. Fritz Holzinger and Dr. Wolfgang Penzias Of VA Tech and drew attention to the fact of Sindh Indus harnessed effective for the generation of hydroelectric power and expressed interest in helping the province utilize this potential resource by funding and technical help.
Marri recognized that Europe has a lot to offer in terms of expertise when it comes to power generations, particularly hydroelectric power and agreed collaboration between Austria and Pakistan would prove beneficial.
