Asean Economic Community 2015- Role of Thailand in Enhancing Pak-Asean Connectivity

Karachi, September 24, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Royal Thai Consulate General Karachi organized a seminar “ASEAN ECONOMIC COMMUNITY 2015- ROLE OF THAILAND IN ENHANCING PAK-ASEAN CONNECTIVITY” at local Hotel.

Dr. Thanes Sucharikul, former Ambassador and Director of the Master of Arts Program in International Law and Diplomacy of the Assumption University of Thailand, who flew in especially from Thailand and spoke on ASEAN Economic Community and Thailand as a gateway between Pakistan and ASEAN. Mr. Tariq Ikram, Former Minister of State and Chief Executive of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan gave an insightful lecture on Pak-ASEAN Trade Venues.

He told that Pakistan can be benefited from ASEAN connectivity and enhance their trade relations by diversifying investments in various sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, fishery, forestry, gem and jewellery, mining and quarrying and others.

Mr. Wichai Sirisujin, the Consul General of Thailand thanked Mr. Arif Suleman, President Pak-Thai Business Forum and Mr. Faisal Hassan, the CEO of Global Sea Food Marketing Company for their cooperation and contribution. The event was largely attended by diplomats of ASEAN Nations and business community, followed by luncheon.
