Army camps in towns, villages behind rights abuses: APHC

Srinagar, November 18, 2015 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference has condemned the arrest of unarmed civilians including women by Indian Army in Chuntimullah area of Bandipora and has termed it gross violation of human rights. The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said the presence of numerous army camps in towns and villages across Kashmir was the main reason for all rights violations in Kashmir during the past two and a half decades.

The spokesman said Indian forces are taking advantage of draconian black laws like Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFPSA), which grant them unbridled powers, and in the garb of these laws army personnel are carrying out atrocities against civilians. He said holding people responsible for the deteriorating situation in Kashmir while overlooking the human rights violations carried by Indian Army and police shows the height of opportunism of the puppet rulers.

The APHC said it is unfortunate that while the killings and assault on peaceful protestors by the Indian forces do not prick the conscience of the puppet chief minister, he is vocal in defending armed forces involved in all kinds of atrocities. The spokesman said Mufti Sayeed is visiting different Indian states and misleading people of India about the Kashmir dispute.
