APHC concerned over stepped up Indian state terrorism in IOK

Srinagar, April 24, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference has expressed serious concern over the stepped up Indian state terrorism in the territory. The APHC at a meeting of its Executive Council in Srinagar took detailed view of the ongoing political situation in occupied Kashmir and in the entire region besides discussing the organizational matters.

The meeting was chaired by the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and attended among others by Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Maulana Abbas Ansari, Bilal Ghani Lone, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Musaddiq Aadil, and political advisor of Hurriyet Conference, Advocate Abdul Majeed Banday.

A statement issued after the meeting said that during the participants condemned the recent killing of innocent people by Indian troops in Tral and Narbal. They stated that the black laws imposed in the occupied territory that empowered the troops to kill on will were responsible for the bloodshed of the Kashmiris.

They pointed out that such laws were also empowering the forces’ personnel to use brutal force against innocent people to suppress their legitimate aspirations. They maintained that human rights violations would continue to occur in Kashmir till the black laws like Armed Forces Special Powers Act were revoked from the territory.

The participants demanded immediate release of all illegally detained Kashmiri political prisoners languishing in different jails of occupied Kashmir and India. They deplored that despite court orders to release such prisoners, they were kept behind bars, adding that family members of many detainees complained that they were not allowed to meet their relatives.

Denouncing the arrest of youth, nocturnal raids, and suppression of aspirations of people by dint of force and state sponsored terror, the participants said that such steps could not break the Kashmiris’ liberation sentiment. They added that the APHC would strengthen its organizational setup at grass root level and would initiate an active public contact campaign to inform and aware people about its political stand and strategy of carrying forward the liberation movement.
