All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association says economic vision of Prime Minister in-waiting Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would help bring economy back on its feet

Lahore, May 31, 2013 (PPI-OT): All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA) has said that economic vision of Prime Minister in-waiting Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would help bring economy back on its feet as his austerity plan is the need of hour.

In a statement issued here Friday, leader of APPMA Businessman Group Khamis Saeed Butt, President APPMA Muhammad Ajmal and Vice President Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayeen said that at ongoing economic scenario needs to be given a serious thought and priority by putting long-tern, medium and short terms plans simultaneously.

They said that government should allocate sufficient funds for power projects in the forthcoming budget as energy crisis has destroyed the economic fabric of the country. They said that PML-N government would have to put an end gas and electricity load shedding.

Khamis Saeed Butt and Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayeen said that corruption was the mother of all ills. He said that during the last five years, the previous government promoted corruption like fashion and played havoc with the national interests.

They urged the new Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to form an authorized team for recovery of looted money from the kings of corruption and immediately replace the corrupt elements with honest ones. They said corrupts should be investigated and culprits be brought to justice. They also urged the new Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to reverse the political loan wavers.

APPMA leaders said that government has to cut expenditures to put economy back on rail. They said that PML-N government should reduce the expenditures by at least 40 percent.

They said that recent hike in electricity tariff and petroleum prices should be withdrawn to provide some relief to the already over-burdened businessmen and masses. They said that new government should also control the escalating prices of every day commodities.

Khawaja Nadeem Saeed and Khamis Saeed Butt said that government corporations such as PIA, Railways, PSM and PEPCO etc are eating up billions rupees and nedd immediate restructuring to get rid of corruption and deficit.

They also appealed to the new Prime Minister to allow duty free import of paper and paper board from India that would certainly help in reducing the education cost for the poor.
